Video to inspire teens to treasure life
A group of veteran filmmakers have produced a short educational video based on the tsunami tragedy to urge young people to treasure their family and the environment.
The video comprises three 30-second episodes. The first features the tsunami victims, the second shows two parents sitting at the dinner table waiting for their child to return home, while the third symbolises nature, with the blue sky and green landscape referred to as 'our mum and dad'. Each episode ends with the slogan: 'Life Is A Treasure, Treasure Life.'
Thomas Chow Loy-mow, songwriter and creative director of production house Adbrownies, which initiated the project, said they suggested to the Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB) about producing an educational video on the tsunami.
They did it free of charge and finished shooting within two weeks, with the help of other production media companies. The EMB has designed a set of teaching materials to encourage students to reflect on what they have learned from the video.
'We are certainly proud to see our children donate their pocket money [to help tsunami victims] but we truly believe that we should not stop at that superficial stage,' said Mr Chow.
'The tsunami reminds us to treasure the things we take for granted, such as our family and nature. We want to convey the message to young people and remind them to be grateful.'
