The Department of Applied Social Studies of City University (CityU) has launched a fund-raising project to help rebuild an orphanage in Aceh, Indonesia.
The department is also planning to send staff and students to Aceh to do voluntary work this summer.
Meanwhile, CityU has raised $392,660 for Unicef to provide education kits for children in South Asia who are affected by the tsunami.

The money was collected between January 6 and February 7.
Shortly after the Boxing Day tsunami, CityU set up a support group which organised a campus-wide donation campaign, forums and research into the disaster.
