The opening party of the Women Portrait Exhibition last week drew about 100 culture vultures to the Art Statements Gallery, near SoHo to view the work of five contemporary artists from Europe and the US: Erwin Olaf, Micha Klein, Sam Samore, Pascal Lievre and Andrew J. Loiterton.
After speeches from Sally Lo, chairman of the Hong Kong Cancer Fund, and Dominique Perregaux, owner of Art Statements, the exhibition was officially unveiled.
Guests admired 13 portraits of women seen through the eyes of the artists. The works are on sale for about $85,000 each, with about one-fifth of the sale price earmarked for the Hong Kong Cancer Fund. Guests on the night included Francis Gouten, Luna Hoffmeyer, Simone Pedersen, Tricia Chan Kin-fay, Teresa Kwei and Manolo Chellaram.
