YOU'VE got the key, and ANYTHING can happen in the Magic Box ... This opening song has led a lot of children into the fun world of English created by the half-hour TV programme The Magic Box .
The TV programme has become an integrated part of an introductory English learning package - ''The Magic Box Collection'', which has Hong Kong as its launching pad.
It is the first multi-media educational kit produced with a TV programme, says Mr Bob Andersen, who directs marketing of the package in Asia and the Middle East.
Designed mainly for non-English speaking children aged between four and eight, the collection is divided into six progressive packages with different components: videos, audio tapes, little books, an alphabet book, a vocabulary book, activity books, traditional stories and parental guides.
Each package introduces a basic vocabulary presented through its varied components, which is then reinforced through stories and songs. They are also encouraged to write them through the activity books.
''It's a flexible package that follows a spiral learning process. A child can pick to do what he likes anytime. It's not English stuffed down one's throat,'' said Mr Andersen.
The parent video and the guide book help parents understand how children learn and how to use the series.
