Legco President Rita Fan Hsu Lai-tai donned an apron and carried a shopping basket in Tai Koo Shing's Cityplaza yesterday, where she helped sell cookies to raise funds for the elderly.
It was the sixth time she has taken part in the Cookie Campaign, organised by Helping Hand. During the campaign, which runs until March 20, people can buy cookies and lucky pandas in shopping malls and at MTR and KCR stations.
Deputy director of Helping Hand, Colman Wong Ping-choi, said about 80,000 cookies had been made and they were aiming to raise more than $3 million. The cash will mainly be spent on covering the running costs of eight homes for the elderly.
