MUSICAL THEATRE
Amber, a musical theatre starring Liu Ye, winner of the Golden Horse Award for Best Actor, will be staged from Thursday to March 8 at 7.30pm in the Grand Theatre of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
The performance will be directed by Meng Jinghui. It is a modern fable of a woman's search for love in contemporary China. The story begins with a man who dies in an accident. His heart is transplanted into the body of another young man - a playboy who leads a decadent life. The girlfriend of the deceased believes that she can help the playboy redeem his soul.
Amber will be performed in Putonghua with Chinese and English surtitles. Tickets at $350, $280, $220, $180 and $100 for adults, with half-price concessions for students, are available from Urbtix on 2734 9009.
DANCE SHOWCASE
Six dancers from Asia will perform Little Prince Hamlet, a dance theatre inspired by Antoine du Saint Exupery's The Little Prince and Shakespeare's Hamlet.
In this multimedia showcase, Hong Kong choreographer Daniel Yeung will be joined by leading dancers and choreographers from Malaysia, Indonesia and South Korea. The performance will be staged from Thursday to Saturday at 7.45pm in the Hong Kong Cultural Centre's Studio Theatre. Tickets cost $190 and $120, with half-price concessions for students, and can be purchased from Urbtix.
