There may be cheaper DVD recorders on the market, but Samsung Electronics' new DVD-R100 will justify the extra dollars spent. The recorder comes with Samsung's proprietary Smart RP system, a recording processor used to enhance the product's precise data-reading and writing functions. The processor's tilt compensation technology ensures accurate data-reading and storage even when crooked discs are used. The DVD-R100 allows users to record data in three formats, DVD-RW, DVD-R and DVD-Ram. Press a button and the recorder automatically searches the available recording space on the disc and calculates the length before selecting the appropriate recording mode. The recorder is priced at $2,980.
