Chinese-American designer Anna Sui, well-known for her unorthodox translation of fashion trends and her signature head-to-toe look, has put another accessory in the hands of her customers: a limited-edition couture phone.
The new Anna Sui Mobile for Samsung made its debut last Tuesday during Spring Fashion Week in New York City, where the designer is based and where Hong Kong 'fashionistas' will probably head soon to obtain the trendy accessory.
In a merger of high fashion and high technology, the full-featured GPRS handset comes with its own Anna Sui signature case, a Sui Rouge No 371 lipstick and a designer phone charm.
Exclusive illustrations by the designer are used as screensavers on the handset, which is a revamped version of Samsung and network operator T-Mobile's SGH-E315 mobile phone.
A self-described 'technology lover', Ms Sui said that her eponymous, clamshell phone reflected a few of her favourite things - 'purple, metallic black, a butterfly, glam rock and vintage chic'.
The couture phone weighs about 80 grams and measures 83x46x23mm.
It has a video graphics array camera with digital zoom functions that can record 15-second video clips with sound.
