Activists plan 'victory march' to celebrate official resignation
Anti-Tung activists said last night they would hold a 'victory march' if the chief executive announced he had resigned.
Tsang Kin-shing, a core member of the Anti-Tung Solidarity group, which has called for Tung Chee-hwa's resignation, said a celebration would be announced shortly after any official word of Mr Tung's resignation.
Referring to the mass protest on July 1, 2003, Mr Tsang said: 'It clearly demonstrates ... that people can change matters if they are united'.
More than 500,000 people took to the streets that day. They had different grievances, but most were aimed at the Tung administration.
Mr Tsang said the group would hold the victory march on the Sunday following the official resignation. 'It will be a march different to our previous ones - it will be much happier.'
Despite Mr Tung's possible resignation, Mr Tsang said his group would still not be satisfied. 'It is only a forced resignation. It might not be his own decision at all. On top of that, we still do not have the right of universal suffrage.'
