Teen sensation Demi Mak is poised to claim her maiden senior title after pulling nine shots clear of the chasing pack following the second round of the Hong Kong Ladies Closed Amateur Championships yesterday. The 14-year-old, who held an overnight six-stroke advantage, covered a bitterly cold and windswept Discovery Bay course in a best-of-the-day 83 for 156 and increased her lead over second-placed defending champion Teresa Chan (86) and third-placed Sandy Tao (87). Mak's round, which included a birdie at the par-three 11th, could have been lower had it not been for an unfortunate triple bogey at the 17th where she lost a ball after her tee shot. Demi's twin sister Ginger, who won the China Junior Open title in February, was in fourth place following a round of 88. 'With a lead like this I am feeling confident,' said Demi Mak. In division two of the championship, Discovery Bay Golf Club member Yukiko Hirahara opened up an eight-stroke lead over Noel Chung and Felicia Louey after carding an 87 for 171.
