A leading insurance company, one of the top 10 in Hong Kong, is on the lookout for high-quality risk and financial advisers. Zurich Insurance Group (Hong Kong), which is part of the Swiss-based insurance corporation Zurich Financial Services, offers a wide range of life and general insurance options for its 300,000 customers. A recent innovation, Financial Advisory Management (FAM), is a distribution channel tailored for the Hong Kong market that provides holistic financial solutions and risk management advice. FAM is based on a state-of-the-art financial planning model that has worked successfully overseas, and has been modified to suit the local market. Zurich Insurance Group (Hong Kong) embraces the universally admired Swiss national characteristics of precision, reliability and creativity. The successful candidate's duties would entail giving mid- to high-income professionals reliable, needs-based risk and financial advice and solutions, said Bowen Wong, channel head of FAM at Zurich. The candidate would also be required to build long-term partnerships with clients. What is there about the position that should make it extra attractive to the candidate? 'We invest heavily in our new advisers in terms of development and management commitment - and this is what professionals need,' Mr Wong said. FAM employs full-time instructors to help its advisers develop and improve their skills and market knowledge. Zurich Insurance Group (Hong Kong) is interested in high-calibre applicants who hold a degree in any discipline. An MBA would be considered an advantage. Candidates should have completed the Insurance Intermediaries Qualifying Exam (IIQE) papers 1, 2, 3 and 5. Needless to say, candidates should have a passion for financial planning and a determination to succeed. What about promotion prospects? 'Every recruit goes through a comprehensive training programme to qualify as a risk and financial adviser,' Mr Wong said. 'At each stage of their development, the advisers attend training programmes to meet the standards for moving up to the next level,' he said. Candidates who fit into their job well, work hard and show promise have a good chance of being promoted to the post of executive adviser in the first year of employment. Zurich Financial Services is an internationally respected insurer with 130 years of global insurance experience. The company has a strong presence in Hong Kong - Zurich Insurance Group (Hong Kong) was established here more than 40 years ago and has a premium income of close to $3 billion.
