Ricoh's new family of colour laser printers carries the brand Aficio, but the company expected users to simply find the devices efficient. The Aficio series includes the regular CL4000DN printer and the top-of-the-line CL4000HDN, which has a built-in 40-gigabyte hard disk to support extra features such as the LockedPrint password security and SamplePrint first-print check. But that is where their difference ends. The units are designed to offer minimum maintenance and network monitoring. Warm-up time is less than 30 seconds. The bundled software includes DeskTopBinderV2 Lite for document management. Both Aficio models handle A4 to B5 paper formats. They can take heavy and recycled paper, and transparencies. Paper capacity is up to 1,750 sheets when the optional paper trays are installed. Maximum power consumption is less than 1,200 watts. Both models are designed for a duty cycle of 150,000 sheets a month. The CL4000DN costs $17,500, while the CL4000HDN sells for $19,500.
