I usually get up around 6.45am because I've got family, two boys, and I sit with them while they eat their breakfast. They leave the house for the school bus at 7.30am so we only have about 30 minutes together in the morning. I like to make sure they see a face before they leave for school because when they get home from school I'm not there. I can't have them grow up saying, 'When I was growing up I didn't see my mum.'
Breakfast depends on my mood. If I'm feeling extravagant, I'll have bird's nest. It's really good. It's a vanity thing for us women, spending time on yourself, but it's still decadent
I have four places of work. Home in Middle Bay, an office on the 23rd floor of Success Commercial Building in Wan Chai, the bookshop and meeting room on the 18th floor, and the warehouse next door.
I do a lot of work from home. I get about 150 e-mails a day. I see all the orders that come in. I don't have to worry about them, but I like to have a feel for how busy we are. I'll check on shipments and payment. I have people to
do that, but they don't usually have the whole picture. Besides, I'm always looking for ways to cut costs.
We have a new processing system in the warehouse, so I've been in there recently learning how it works. My husband [Peter Gordon] works in the office, not in the warehouse, so I go there to run away from him.
