Updated at 2.13pm: The government said on Tuesday that job fairs for young people would be held jointly by the Labour Department, employers and social service organisations in the New Territories. Permanent Secretary for Economic Development and Labour Matthew Cheung Kin-chung said the job fairs would provide on-site interview opportunities for young people in remote districts while saving them travelling expenses. 'We hope that job placements will help youngsters stand on their own feet and start a new milestone in life,' he said. Mr Cheung said social workers also would provide on-site career counselling to young people at the fairs. Twenty-seven employers will offer some 1,700 vacancies in the fair in Kwai Fong on Wednesday. Another two fairs will be held in Yuen Long and Tin Shui Wai in April. The dates and opening hours of the fairs are: Wednesday, 10am to 6pm, Crystal Atrium, Level 3, Metroplaza, Kwai Fong; April 8, 10am to 6pm, Yuen Long Town Hall; April 22, 10am to 6pm, Cine Valley Phase II, Kingswood Ginza, Tin Shui Wai.
