SCANDINAVIAN Airlines (SAS) is to increase its weekly non-stop Hong Kong-Copenhagen flights to four from November 3 to meet demand.

  As with all SAS flights to and from the territory, the new service will fly over China and Russia.

  The new service will depart Hong Kong for the Danish capital on Saturdays at 9.55 am.

  Dragonair A320 delivered   THE fifth of Dragonair's fleet of seven new Airbus Industrie A320s was delivered this week.

  It will replace the Hong Kong carrier's last remaining Boeing 737, which is being withdrawn from service and returned to the aircraft leasing company, International Lease Finance Corp, in early November.

  Two more A320s are scheduled for delivery in December and March.

    Dragonair's fleet now consists of five A320s and two L1011 TriStars, all painted in the carrier's new white livery with a red dragon.

  SIA flies to Hiroshima   SINGAPORE Airlines will begin a service to Hiroshima, its sixth destination in Japan, from Monday.

  The airline said an Airbus A310-300 would make the round-trip on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Singapore Airlines also serves Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Sendai.

  Symposium opens today   REPRESENTATIVES from 19 airlines, Honeywell International and regulatory bodies are expected to attend the Boeing/Cathay Pacific Flight Management System Symposium, to begin in Hong Kong today.

  Day two of the symposium, at the Sheraton Hotel, will concentrate on the development of Future Air Navigation Systems (FANS) and Flight Management System (FANS1), currently going through test stages.

  Airport opening delayed   DENVER'S $3.2 billion new international airport will open nearly three months behind schedule, according to officials.

  They said the delay would allow for the completion and safety-testing of facilities, while also averting the headache of opening the new site during the peak holiday-travel period.

  BA-Qantas Seoul-mates   BRITISH AIRWAYS and Qantas in South Korea have moved into smart new offices together in the heart of Seoul.

  It is the first joint set-up since BA took a 25 per cent stake in the Australian carrier in February.

  David Scowsill, BA's Pacific regional general manager, said the shared premises were representative of the airline's close relationship with Qantas as well as BA's globalisation strategy.

  Cathay sets time limit   CATHAY Pacific Airways has announced it will close all its boarding gates exactly 10 minutes before departure as part of a clampdown on flight delays.

  Many delays are due to such factors as air-traffic control problems or congestion at Kai Tak. However, Don Birch, Cathay's director of customer services, said a recent research project showed passengers boarding late were equally to blame.

  TNT moves into India   TNT Express Worldwide has become the first global express distribution company to get a direct foothold in the Indian sub-continent.

  It has signed a $15.6 million deal with Indian courier company Premier Corporate Services and Redington.
