FABRICS THAT CAN revitalise tired legs, deodorise sweaty bodies or boost the immune system are no longer future fantasy but reality. And many of them will be on show at the Functional Fabrics pavilion at Interstoff Asia Spring 2005.
The Taiwan Textile Federation is planning to demonstrate the effectiveness of 13 functional fabrics at testing counters set up in the pavilion this year - one more than it showed off last year.
The new function it will be demonstrating is reflectivity.
Reflective fabrics, generally used to throw back light from different sources, offer designers wider scope for creating safer and more comfortable garments for athletes or road workers.
Six other functional fabrics will debut at the pavilion this year, although their properties will not be demonstrated at test counters.
These textiles are abrasion-resistant, environmentally friendly, antibacterial, windproof, mosquito-repellent and negative ion generating.
