Roll your eyeballs all you want, rugby fans, but CitySeen thinks that the real test of fortitude at the Rugby Sevens isn't so much what happens on the field - after all, how hard can it be to run around with a ball for 14 or 20 minutes? The difficult part, in our opinion, is having the perseverance to party even on weekend mornings.
And while some might contend the secret lies with a Bloody Mary or extra-strength coffee, CitySeen has never been led astray by a hearty breakfast. The Kiwanis Club of Hong Kong has apparently thought along the same lines, which is why it is hosting its Annual Charity Pancake Breakfast this weekend.
It will be at the Indian Recreation Club Marquee restaurants on Caroline Hill Road, opposite the HK Stadium.
All proceeds from ticket sales - $75 for adults and $50 for children or students - will go to the Hong Kong Society for the Protection of Children and the Kiwanis Charitable Foundation.
And if your pancake tastes a little rich, it's because it is being prepared by some of the leading professionals in the city. Among the volunteers behind the skillet are Richard Weisman, managing partner of law firm Baker & McKenzie; Dale Willets, manager of Italian restaurant Fat Angelos, and Stuart McCarthy, chief executive of insurance firm BSI Brokers. Hmm . . . but how good can they flip?
