The Tourism Board has been asked to explain why it needs $9 million to revamp its website. Inbound Travel Association chairman Paul Leung Yiu-lam said the board should give more information on how it will spend the money, and consult the trade about new designs. 'We have previously said the website should also serve as an e-commerce platform where visitors can make deals with travel agencies and hotels. It's very hard to say whether $9 million is too high. But I would have to say that there is no need to have more versions. Do we need a Russian or Turkish version when we have so few visitors from these areas?' he said. The site, at www.discoverhongkong.com , can now be read in 10 languages. The board's executive director, Clara Chong Ming-wah, said it was necessary to refresh the website more often and offer more languages.
