The quite honourable James Tien Pei-chun has made some nasty enemies.

A naughty e-mail sent by a group which calls itself 'Concerned Citizens for Mental Hygiene, Decency and Motherhood' has been making the round in the news rooms of major papers and offices of NGOs in recent days. It's titled 'Ten Things You and Your Family Should Know About James Tien'. Some points are at least factually correct about the Liberal Party boss. Others are too rude to print. I quote:

1. Tien has said: 'Hong Kong is a business city... it should be led by elites.'

2. 'If you ask whether we should elect the chief executive by one-man, one-vote or by a group of 800 elites now, I prefer the 800.'

3. Tien's Liberal Party scrapped a call for universal suffrage in 2007 from its platform in June, 2003.

4. Tien's Liberal Party strongly supported the government's Article 23 legislation until July, 2003, when it stabbed Tung (Chee-hwa) in the back.
