Hello Kitty: lovable feline or annoying pop culture icon? No matter what your stance, Japan's most famous face is the ultimate survivor, having celebrated its 30th anniversary. Her face has appeared everywhere from paper towels to coin purses, while books have been written about Kitty mania worldwide. If that wasn't enough, Cameron Diaz, Nicky Hilton and rocker Steven Tyler have all been pictured wearing Hello Kitty jewellery, signalling that the hype isn't going to die down anytime soon. The latest in kitty paraphernalia is bound to send collectors scrambling, and comes courtesy of handbag designer to the stars Judith Leiber. The limited-edition Hello Kitty coin purse minaudiere ($21,000), with colourful crystals and kiss-lock closure, is the first item from a Kitty-devoted collection to be launched later this year. The bag, along with a collection of matching accessories, can be ordered from Lane Crawford stores (IFC Mall, Central, tel: 2118 3388). Expect to wait three weeks before your special cat arrives on your doorstep.
