In the semi-finals, he timed 11.30 seconds and 23.35 seconds, respectively. Unfortunately he was injured during the 4x100m relay heats, and although he was unable to win the 100m final, he showed his sportsmanship by taking part in the race. He hopes to return to action after his exams in June. The 15-year-old is a Hong Kong age-group record holder in the boys' Grade B and C 4x100m relay. He won the boys' Grade B 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay in the first round of the Watsons Water Hong Kong Junior Elite Athletic Championships last January. He discovered a talent for athletics after outstanding performances during primary school sports days. He joined Watsons Athletic Club's Junior Elite Training Programme and has received formal guidance since Primary Five. Soundbite: 'I enjoy the close relationship with my teammates, the bittersweet feelings and the sense of satisfaction that we share,' he said. 'I am looking forward to taking part in overseas competitions where I can compete with runners from other countries.' From his coach: 'Ho-bong is talented. He is improving gradually but needs more experience,' said Henry Tang Hon-sing, the SAR men's record holder in the 110m and 400m hurdles. 'Apart from the World Youth Athletic Championships, his other short-term target is to reach the entry standard for the All-China Secondary School Games. He will also aim to break the Hong Kong age-group records in Grade B 100m and 200m.' Interests: Ho-bong plays badminton and table tennis during his free time.
