City University of Hong Kong (CityU) has received $1 million from local drama group Spring-Time to help its School of Creative Media (SCM) set up scholarships for mainland students. It was Spring-Time's first donation to a local tertiary institution. Of the $1 million donation, $800,000 will be set aside for the Spring-Time Scholarship for Mainland Students, while the remaining $200,000 will be awarded to full-time SCM students in support of outreach programmes relevant to their curriculum and career development. Speaking at the cheque presentation ceremony on March 17, CityU president Chang Hsin-kang said: 'As CityU increases its international exposure, the support of Spring-Time in establishing creative media education scholarships will make a positive difference. 'The scholarships will attract talented mainland students to our SCM and support the SCM students' participation in international exchange and outreach programmes.' Founded in 1995, Spring-time is dedicated to organising local educational drama programmes and overseas tours.
