Suiraku Japanese Lounge and Restaurant UG/F 65-67A Kimberley Road, Tsim Sha Tsui Tel: 3421 1612 Open: Mon to Sat 11am-2.30pm, 6pm-11pm Cuisine: Japanese Ambience: It's decorated in dark woods with white chairs. There's smooth, cool music playing all night and, if there are five or more in your group, there's a VIP room that can be booked in advance. Price: Reasonable for Japanese cuisine at about $150 per person for dinner. Pros: Most of the dishes are of good quality and the waiters are attentive and helpful. Cons: The restaurant might be a bit difficult to find because it's up a slope. Also the VIP room is no more than a small area facing the fire exit, and it's poorly decorated. Recommended dishes: Yellow tail sashimi ($98) - also known as hamachi and considered a good test of a Japanese restaurant - is fresh with a subtly sweet taste. Beef sukiyaki ($150, right) has a soup base that is full of flavour. What else? The grilled duck fillet with inaniwa udon ($68) has good quality meat, but the noodles, which should be chewy and elastic, are too soft and textureless. They'd probably been in the soup too long. And, although it may sound trivial, the menu is lovely with its beautiful silk cover.
