Andy Lau Tak-wah endured a bit of a tough time while shooting his latest film, he tells CitySeen. What was giving him trouble, however, wasn't anything as mundane as tight production schedules or mastering the latest martial arts stunts - instead, it was dealing with baby fat.
The 43-year-old actor is in a new Gordon Chan Ka-sheung epic that follows Lau's character through almost the whole of his life. Lau said it was toughest to play the character when in his 20s because of the need for creative makeup and special effects to make him look younger.
'They stuck some plastic under my chin to give me 'baby fat',' he said. 'But I couldn't laugh or move around too much while wearing that because the baby fat would fall off if I did.'
Although he didn't enjoy playing a youngster, Lau said he was looking forward to playing the 80-year-old version of the character.
'They put the makeup on me once and I love it,' he said. 'Because I think I looked like Sean Connery with that.'
