The Best Comedy DVD in the World
Starring: A host of British and US comedians
The disc: The rather startling immodesty of this disc's title, which could be the topic of extended debate - as all comedy is surely subjective - is quickly forgiven. This, because it's a charity disc, conceived by Britain's Revolver Entertainment production house, with all proceeds going to Unicef's Tsunami Children's Appeal.
Thus, it covers the widest spectrum of British and American TV comedy possible - old and new.
Be warned, though, parents of youngsters: although it features Wallace & Gromit and other Aardman coloured clay animation, alongside the likes of Bob Hope and the Marx Brothers, keep the ear mufflers handy for Richard Pryor's expletive-peppered distressing routine about heart-attack victims and for the outrageously hilarious clip from Bo Selecta series three, in which its obnoxious character the Bear is filmed live on a British breakfast show and succeeds in offending one of its presenters - Phillip Scofield - so strongly that the latter walks off his own set.
Although the 15-rating isn't on this disc for nothing, littl'uns can still enjoy Wallace & Gromit's Cracking Contraptions short, in which some particularly outlandish homemade gizmos are showcased by the unassuming northern English inventor and his dog. And there's an edit from Harvey Krumpet - 2003's Oscar-winning Australian animation short about a loveable Plasticine man who's down on his luck.
