With its off-putting title - Anti-idol: Real Music for Real People - this album places a value judgment on the artists, music and buyers. Different people have different tastes, after all.

Title aside, this compilation offers a diverse mix of established cult figures such as Ian Brown, PJ Harvey, Bjork, The Cure, and U2 along with the with the not-quite-radio friendly Queens of the Stone Age, The Hives, The Killers, Razorlight, and Scissor Sisters. As well, there are mainstream artists Hoobastank, Limp Bizkit, 3 Doors Down, Puddle of Mudd, blink-182 and Maroon 5.

The 19-track CD kicks off with the attention-grabbing Vertigo by U2 and ends with the ironic The End of the World by The Cure. In between are Limp Bizkit's rendition of The Who's Behind Blue Eyes, I Miss You by blink-182, Here Without You by 3 Doors Down, Somebody Told Me by The Killers, PJ Harvey's Shame and Laura by the Scissor Sisters, to name a few. While some tracks may not be the artists' best or most popular, it is still a pleasant sampler.
