The best thing about doing charity work is seeing the joy it brings to the people who benefit. And for singer Daniel Chan Hiu-tung, it was all worth it, even if it meant having his nails painted for the first time. Chan and fellow singer Miriam Yeung Chin-wah - both Unicef ambassadors - visited families affected by Aids in Shanxi province . One of the gifts Yeung brought for the children was nail polish. She gave some to an eight-year-old girl named Qianqian, who contracted Aids through her mother. Chan then offered to demonstrate by letting Qianqian paint one of his nails, but the girl had such a good time that she ended up painting all 10 of his fingers. Yeung, who was watching on the side, naturally egged her on. This was Chan's third trip as a Unicef ambassador, following visits to Kosovo and Ethiopia. Chan said this trip made a deeper impression on him than the previous two because he was able to communicate with the children in their own language, allowing him to better understand their feelings.
