Diocesan girls showcase their talents to win top prize in multimedia contest
A group of students from Diocesan Girls' School (DGS) won a competition with their diverse talents ranging from writing and communication skills to teamwork and designing multimedia webpages.
The Second New Media Workshop and Competition was organised by City University's (CityU) Department of English and Communication. The event was a good example of CityU's philosophy of integrating classroom teaching with real-world experience.
Four-member teams from 10 schools were shortlisted for the final. They were given a day to interview members of local indie band Tai Tau Fat, write promotional material and short album reviews, edit video clips and create different multimedia components to develop their own website.
St Paul's Co-educational College came second, followed by STFA Leung Kau Kui College.
All Saints Middle School and Yuen Long Lutheran Secondary School won awards for excellence.
'I found the day very exciting. We had the chance to interview the pop stars, shoot their performance, edit the video and design multimedia webpages using sophisticated computers and software,' said Grace Ng, a sixth former from DGS.
