World renowned sculptor Professor Anthony Stone moulds a clay model of Sir Sze Yuen Chung, pro-chancellor of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. The public lecture and demonstration called Genesis of a Sculpture took place during the maestro's one-week residency at HKUST last month.
Professor Stone is acclaimed for his commemorative statues and portrait bronzes of eminent figures. They include a bronze of Queen Elizabeth II on horseback, a statue of the Roman emperor Nerva and a life-size statue of Captain Cook in the UK's National Maritime Museum.
His portrait of Dr Sze will be cast in bronze and displayed on campus as a tribute to the pro-chancellor's contribution to HKUST as founding chairman of its university council.
