There's a great delivery service for those of us who detest the taste of cream that's been treated to ultra-high temperatures (UHT) to prolong its shelf life. UHT cream is the only stuff available at Hong Kong supermarkets, but the Shek Kong-based Farm Milk Dairy delivers its non-UHT products to Hong Kong island, Kowloon and the New Territories. The dairy cows are raised in China and their milk is sent to the facilities in Shek Kong to be pasteurised, homogenised and packaged. Because Farm Milk products are pasteurised at the relatively low temperature of 72 degrees Celsius (UHT is heated to more than 138 degrees), they have a shorter shelf life; UHT cream can last for months without refrigeration while Farm Milk double cream lasts for only a few days. However, the flavour of this thick, rich cream is much better. Farm Milk's double cream is $24 for 280ml; they also sell whole milk, low-fat and skim milk at $23 per litre. Delivery is free and there's no minimum order. Call 2832 9218.
