Hong Kong students can take advantage of new English learning resources on the Internet developed by the University of Hong Kong and the website Hong Kong Education City.
English in the Media includes RTHK English-language documentaries such as Police Report while Youth Speak II features four short videos teaching daily English conversation. Both are accompanied by quizzes to assess progress.
Meanwhile, a team of researchers in HKU's Linguistics Department have developed the website Reach Out For English which Form Four to Seven students will be able to access next month.
The site offers exercises focusing on common errors in written English, and can be used for learning or testing.
Characters including Dr Grammar, Rock, Rap, and Karaoke have been designed to add an element of fun to the site, which also includes an electronic grammar book and a 900,000-word database.
