Li is Accountant of Year

LEGISLATIVE councillor Eric Li Ka-cheung has been named Hong Kong's first Accountant of the Year.

The award, organised by Systems Union (SUL) and sponsored by the Hong Kong Society of Accountants (HKSA), was launched in August to give formal recognition to an accountant thought to excel in his professional endeavours and with a commitment to Hong Kong's accounting profession.

According to SUL managing director Grant Boydell, accountants have traditionally taken a relatively low profile in Hong Kong, yet many have contributed significantly to business and the community.
