Two information technology enrichment courses have been launched by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) to cater to gifted secondary school students.
The courses are part of the Education and Manpower Bureau's (EMB's) Support Measures for the Exceptionally Gifted Students Scheme and will benefit 100 students in Forms Four to Six who are talented in information technology (IT), science or mathematics.
The first part of the programme, the Information Technology Enrichment Project Course, began early this month at HKUST.
The second part, the Basic Programming Enrichment Course, will run in July and August. It is equivalent to
the first introductory programming course offered to freshmen at HKUST.
The course will cover the basics of programming using C++, including program design, debugging and testing, and recursive programming.
Lectures will be conducted over the internet.
