Oil burners and tea lights may add a certain charm and warmth to rooms, but a downside is the potential mess involving wax and liquids. Which is probably why, in line with the unstoppable aromatherapy boom, scent purveyors have sought ever smarter ways to perfume interiors. Enter Lampe du Parfumeur's elegant catalytic burners, which not only freshen the air by removing nasty tobacco and pet odours, but also look great as home ornaments: the bottles are handmade and mouth-blown in crystal and porcelain. Carried exclusively by Lane Crawford (IFC Mall, Central, tel: 2118 3388), the burners range from $1,200 for the Lampe Atome (far left) to $2,800 for the gold-leaf Lampe Brehat (left). All bottles come with a 250ml sample fragrance, although 20 scents, by Pierre Guerlain's granddaughter Patricia de Nicolai, are available in 400ml sizes for $160 each.
