Mainland enterprise software vendor formally known as Ufsoft wants to be known as Ufida because it 'sounds more European'.
Perhaps company executives were thinking the name would go down well in soccer-mad Europe, where the Uefa governs the sport.
Whatever the case, it is all a part of Ufida's efforts to build an international business as competition heats up at home.
Ufida joins a growing list of mainland technology companies with global ambitions. Others include Lenovo (which changed its name from Legend before embarking on its global strategy) and television manufacturer TCL.
'Developing the international market will be our long-term strategy,' chairman and founder Wang Wenjing said.
He set a goal of becoming a leading Asian vendor by 2007, reaching global scale by 2010.
