If you are bored with visiting the same bars and drinking the same drinks, why not try something more exotic while increasing your cultural know-how at the same time? Tucked away in a building on Percival Street in Causeway Bay is Cella Masumi, a Japanese sake cellar that offers customers a place to tickle their taste buds with 75 varieties of sake. The friendly staff are knowledgable about Japanese culture and are happy to tell you how each sake should be drunk - hot or cold, tiny cup or wide dish. Sake can be bought by the glass (from $15 to $80), allowing customers to test as many different types of sake as they want. Even with a budget of about $200, you should be able to taste up to seven types of sake. Prices of 720ml bottles range from $100 to $800, while customers who pay a yearly membership fee of $300 can enjoy discounts of up to 20 per cent. Cella Masumi is open from noon to midnight on weekdays, but closes an hour earlier on weekends and public holidays. It is at 1/F, 24 Percival Street, Causeway Bay, tel: 2882 2969.
