A motorcyclist died yesterday afternoon after crashing into a van that was making a U-turn on the road to Shek O. The accident, which occurred about 2.20pm, caused long traffic delays.
It happened when the van made a U-turn near Lan Nai Wan village. The motorcyclist, who was travelling behind it, was unable to stop in time and slammed into the side of the vehicle.
The man, aged 36, was taken to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital, where he was certified dead just before 3pm.
Police urge anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information to contact investigating officers on 3106 8849 or 3106 8800.
Seventeen Hong Kong tourists were injured in a bus crash during a sightseeing trip in Hunan province yesterday. The bus overturned on the way to Zhangjiajie .
The injured were first taken to nearby Lingxiang People's Hospital. Two of them, including one woman with serious injuries, were later transferred to a hospital in Changsha , the provincial capital.
