Some 33 years ago, on the evening of March 19, 1972, thousands of excited fans packed into the old Hong Kong stadium for a very special event. The Bee Gees were giving their first concert here.
As expected, the show was a total success.
The South China Morning Post the next day described it as 'one of the largest pop shows ever presented in Hong Kong'.
Pato Leung, the Bee Gees' concert promoter for Southeast Asia at the time, recalls trying to cope with the crowd and keep everyone happy.
'We used the west side of the stadium for the concert, and we sold all 14,000 tickets. The thousands who couldn't get tickets gathered outside the stadium, hoping to at least hear the music. To prevent a riot, I decided to let them into the east side of the stadium, at a discount rate. Here they could hear the music but see only the back of the stage.'
The Bee Gees obviously enjoyed their visit, and were back to thrill audiences on many subsequent occasions.
