Teenagers Wang Zhu and Li Zhengpeng may relative unknowns now, but they could become future stars, judging by the steady progress they have been making since becoming full-time riders four years ago.

The pair, who are both from Xi'an city in Shan'xi province, are being groomed for success in China, whose financial capital Shanghai is this week hosting a leg of the MotoGP for the first time.

Wang, 17, and Li, 16, are considered the future of China racing and they have improved in leaps and bounds since embarking on an intensive training programme in France, their 'headquarters' for the past five months.

The teenagers have been training on the outskirts of Paris since January 24 under the tutelage of top French coach, Michel Marqueton, and have continued to impress in their work as they prepare to make their grand prix debut on home soil.

As the world's biggest producer of motorcycles in a nation of 1.2 billion, China are naturally looking for racers who can one day compete at the top level.

With Shanghai now one of Asia's motor-racing hubs with Formula One racing already a permanent fixture on the calendar, China's brightest stars will be hoping to make an impression in the 250cc class.
