Actor-singer Ronald Cheng Chung-kei may steer clear of gloomy tunes in his new Cantonese album, scheduled for release this summer. Cityseen reckons it's just too difficult for the star, now shooting the sequel to his hit comedy Dragon Loaded, to put on that melancholic look again.

'A Taiwanese fan has written to me to say 'Why are your songs so sad? I can't even find one that hints at happiness'. So I decided I really have to do something different,' Cheng said at the Maxim first anniversary party.

'I hope to place more focus on music in the second half of the year,' Cheng said, adding that he would write four songs in his next album.

He said passers-by on the street did not pay much attention to him before he shot comedies like Himalaya Singh (pictured).

'But now their attitude is different. They keep on laughing when they see me,' he said. 'This is the good thing about being a comic star.'
