THE Gold Coast resort is the only hotel in Hong Kong to make full use of the territory's most under-used natural resource - its coastline.
And it has done it in a major way, as a $600 million resort and conference centre situated on 40.5 hectares of landscaped gardens and white sandy beach.
Developers, the Sino Group of Companies, set out to provide a new experience for visitors who see Hong Kong only as crowded streets, high-rise buildings and shopping.
For those who want to experience a little of the peace and beauty of Hong Kong during their stay, the Gold Coast Hotel has a lot to offer: a white-sand beach, a background of mountains, and a spacious resort-style setting which encourages guests to linger, play tennis, practise their golf swing, or just relax with a drink by the pool.
Located on 1.2 kilometres of beach at No 1 Castle Peak Road, it is a mere 30 minutes' drive from Tsim Sha Tsui, ideal for tourists who want to shop.
But instead of battling traffic, guests can take the hoverferry, which runs every 45 minutes, to China Hong Kong City and, when footsore and weighed down with parcels, escape back to the resort.
It is less than 10 minutes by hoverferry from Hong Kong's new airport at Chek Lap Kok and, with plans in the pipeline to build a helipad at the hotel, checking in from the airport to the resort will be even easier.
