When Premier Wen Jiabao visited the dormitory of four undergraduate students at the Peking University campus, authorities took pains to make sure it was a model room. According to records, it is rated the cleanest room in its block. 'May I sit on your bed?' a smiling Mr Wen asked as he stepped inside. Afterwards, the students could not contain their excitement. 'I am going to auction the bed sheet on which Premier Wen Jiabao and Education Minister Zhou Ji sat,' said a message posted by one of the students on the campus internet bulletin board. 'Any offers?' Even students who had not met the premier were thrilled. 'My roommate shook his hand,' another message posted on the bulletin board said. 'I am going to order him not to wash his hands for five days.' The premier's walkabout ended with lunch at the Nong Yuan cafeteria. Known as the 'people's premier', Mr Wen apparently paid for his own lunch, which students said came to about 10 yuan - somewhat expensive by university standards.
