A position has opened for someone who relishes a challenge and hungers to manage a famous restaurant. A top-notch Hong Kong hotel is looking to hire a manager for its renowned Cantonese restaurant. The Holiday Inn Golden Mile is strategically located in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui's business and shopping district. 'Our Loong Yuen Chinese restaurant offers patrons different dishes including dim sum, fried rice and other good dishes for which it has won awards from the tourism board,' said David Wong, the hotel's director of human resources. The restaurant stands out from others of its ilk thanks to its latest Total Quality Management project, dedicated to enhancing the quality of customer services and fine-tuning even the smallest details. The new recruit will handle day-to-day restaurant operations; shoulder responsibility for the management of staff, facilities, revenue and sales duties; and help maximise profits and ensure business targets are met. 'This person will co-ordinate and provide prompt, efficient service, and maintain standards and the provision of food and beverages,' Mr Wong said. Someone with at least five years' experience of Chinese or western catering with solid training in food hygiene would fit the bill. 'We need somebody with strong leadership and good people skills, who is an excellent team player and exceptionally innovative, with a drive to make a difference and to succeed,' Mr Wong said. The candidate will join the hotel's two-day comprehensive orientation programme - a highly interactive introduction to its corporate culture. 'This is not very routine. It is a fun programme and we always get positive feedback from staff who take part,' Mr Wong said. In addition to its 3,500 properties worldwide, the Holiday Inn expects to operate more than 90 properties in the mainland.
