Where? The four-storey, 4,000-square-metre store is on Dublin's trendy Grafton Street, the fifth most expensive place in the world for retail property. What can you expect? Brown Thomas not only houses some of the world's best-known brands such as Louis Vuitton, Chloe, Calvin Klein and Ghost, it also has an enviable make-up section boasting counters from Stila, Benefit and Prescriptives. Upstairs, you can find the creme de la creme of high-end household furniture and accoutrements. The newly opened Shoe Rooms play host to brands such as Alexander McQueen and Dries van Noten, while the addition of Agent Provocateur has extended the store's lingerie range. What makes it stand out? The man in a top hat and tails who opens the main door is a pleasant accessory with an old-world feeling. The enviable Christ- mas window displays make pilgrims out of homebodies; people flock from far and wide to take in the chosen winter theme. Next door to the cute downstairs cafe is a gleaming barber shop decorated in a traditional style where the men can be preened while the women max out their cards. Anything else? It is renowned for its wedding list service and prides itself on having some of the best choices (albeit it at platinum prices) for newlywed couples.
