Shu Uemura Eyeliner Pencil ($180)

It's a little too hard  but it 's good for drawing thin lines for the lower eyelid. The pencil can be refilled and  doesn't need a sharpener.

Nars Eyeliner ($160)

Its creamy texture makes it easy for blending and smudging. The colour looks natural and is easy to match with different eyeshadow. A smudger at the other end of the pencil would make it perfect. Lancoome Le Crayon Khol Waterproof ($110)

This soft pencil with intense pigment is ideal for outlining the eye. It goes on easily and is waterproof and fade resistant.

Smashbox Cream Eyeliner ($185)

This quick-drying cream comes in many colours and can be used as eyeshadow too. It's great  for creating smoky eye make-up. But you have to use a brush to apply it which makes it difficult for beginners.
