Pegasus flies past field in straight
A LOT more is going to be heard of Gay Pegasus II (5-1), the vastly impressive winner of the eighth event on yesterday's holiday card at Sha Tin.
Gay Pegasus II had looked the part late last season when winning a griffin race for Darren Beadman, was promoted to Class Three and at his first outing in an open field looked well above this company.
Sired by French Derby winner Assert, the David Oughton-trained galloper simply scythed through at the end of this 1,400-metre outing to win by a length and three-quarters.
Super Tension (9-1), who had an ordinary campaign last season, finished second for Randy Romero with claimer Francis K. S. Lam third on Excel Treasure (60-1).
Race favourite Amigo (9-2) finished fourth having looked a real chance in running but finding nothing against the withering finishing run of the winner.
