ECLECTIC DANCE PERFORMANCE Students from the School of Music and Dance at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) will perform Side by Side which features modern, Chinese and musical theatre dance, and ballet. The works include new ballet production Troppo Allegro by Wayne Eagling, a former Artistic Director of the Dutch National Ballet, and New Territories, created by Academy Artist-in-Residence Michele Miller and Academy Senior Lecturer John Utans. French conductor Francois-Xavier Roth will lead the Academy Symphony Orchestra in the two pieces. Musical theatre dance students will perform an excerpt from Broadway musical Victor Victoria. Side by Side will be staged on Friday and Saturday at 8pm, in the Lyric Theatre of the HKAPA. Tickets at $110 and $75 (adults) and $50 (students) are available from HK Ticketing on 31 288 288. SCULPTURE EXHIBITION Hong Kong sCULpTURE, a collection of sculptures by 30 local artists will run from May 17 to June 1 at the Artist Commune of the Cattle Depot Artist Village (63 Ma Tau Kok Road). Participating sculptors include Ha Bik Chuen, Freeman Lau, Lam Laam and Jean Christophe Scolari. A seminar about Hong Kong's sculpture scene will be held on Saturday from 5.30pm to 7pm.
