More than four months after the disaster, 17 people from 10 families are still missing. All were reported to have been in Thailand.

Among them was one-year-old Vincent Gaude. His parents, Fritjof Gaude and Sabine Klaila, are also on the list of missing people. The family was believed to have been at Khao Lak when the giant waves struck.

Relatives of missing local residents have been contacted to collect DNA samples for analysis on a voluntary basis.

Analysed DNA information and fingerprint records have been sent to Thai authorities to help in the identification process.
