Dying HK woman called her boyfriend for help

A Hong Kong brother and sister have been found stabbed to death in their New York apartment, just six months after their parents left the Big Apple to return home.

Sharon and Simon Ng were found by her boyfriend, who rushed to their flat in Queens on Thursday night after Sharon made a panicked phone call in the middle of the attack, according to reports in New York.

Sharon, 21, and Simon, 18, had lived in the apartment for six months after deciding to stay in the city after their parents returned to Hong Kong. The family had moved to New York in 1997.

Sharon managed to make a desperate phone call for help to her new boyfriend moments before she died, according to the New York Daily News.

'I'm bleeding! Call the cops,' she told the boyfriend, according to Donald Tsang, 18, whose brother was with the boyfriend when the call came. The unidentified boyfriend and Vincent Tsang, 23, rushed over.

'He went in and saw her brother on the floor,' said Mr Tsang, adding: 'He was on the floor and he was surrounded by blood. There was blood all around.'

Simon, a  college freshman, had been knifed repeatedly in the chest, and his sister stabbed in the neck, police said, according to the paper. Both were pronounced dead within an hour of being discovered.

There was no sign of forced entry at the second-floor apartment  and nothing was taken. A knife was recovered at the scene, reports said.

The siblings  were understood to have been found in their bedrooms, the only rooms where signs of a struggle were evident, police sources said.

'They were good kids,' said Vincent Tsang, who had been with Sharon and her boyfriend just an hour before she was killed.

Some reports suggested police were looking for Sharon's ex-boyfriend, the sources said. His name was not released.

Vincent Tsang said yesterday Sharon had never complained that her former boyfriend was abusive, the Daily News reported.

Sharon and Simon Ng moved to the United States with their parents in the hope of pursuing an American education, grieving relatives said yesterday.

The siblings achieved that, attending prestigious Cardozo High School in Bayside, Queens.

'They liked it here,' said their aunt, Yvonne Cheung, who stood shocked outside the apartment, which was wrapped in crime-scene tape. 'This is why they stayed when their parents left.'

Simon, described as shy and bookish, was enrolled in Queens College, just a block from their apartment. Sharon, who was gregarious and lively, was working in an upscale cell phone store.

Ms Cheung said she believed that the siblings would want to be buried in New York.

'This is such a shock for us,' said her distraught son, who declined to give his name.
