Drunk with rice wine, Macau fish sellers perform a ritual dance, carrying parts of a dragon to mark the Drunken Dragon Festival. The dance troupe travelled around Macau in an eight-hour parade yesterday. Legend has it that the first people of Zhongshan , arriving from the cooler north, fell ill in the heat of the south. One day, a drunken villager came across a boa constrictor in the forest, hacked it to pieces and threw the bits into a stream of the Pearl River. The villagers' illness disappeared after drinking from the stream. Since then the boa has been worshipped as a dragon.
